LED brings significant cost savings for the new generation of stadium lighting equipment

Operators of stadiums and stadiums will be happy to see the end of HID lamp technology for two main reasons. The first is the limited lifetime of the HID lamp: the typical B50 life (mean time between failures) is only 5,000 hours. This means that HID floodlights require frequent lamp replacement. Since the bulb to be replaced may be up to 25 meters at the top of the narrow rod, special methods and safety equipment as well as skilled technicians are required, and the cost is quite high.

Another major drawback of HID lamps is their behavior in the event of an unexpected shutdown, such as when the stadium's power circuit fails. The HID lamp takes 10-15 minutes to cool down, and it takes 5 minutes to reach full brightness after restarting. This dark and partial illumination can be disastrous if there is a power failure in a large number of contests: when the game is suspended, in a dark stadium with tens of thousands of people, the consequences of security and public order are very serious.

LED-based light sources eliminate these two problems: the life of LED light sources in floodlights depends on the design implementation, but typically ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 hours; when power is switched or restored after mains power is lost When the LED is turned on immediately and reaches full brightness.

Other important advantages of using LED light sources in sports field lighting include higher light efficiency, low voltage at startup, and support for dimming and dynamic lighting effects.
